If only lol.

But why stop there. Why not get a LSx 454 with 620hp and 590tq?

Don't forget you have your choice of LS2 (from '08-'09 Trailblazer SS) or all-aluminum 5.3L (from '08-'09 Envoy Denali...also available as engine upgrade in regular Envoy and Trailblazer).

Edit: I just realized that won't work because the TB/Envoy are light trucks.

I have access to a 2012/2013 Nascar racing season 900hp race motor . It comes complete with the Fuel Injection and computer, waterpump, alt, tranny, and headers. It is a few feet from the front door at my work. If we are fast we can sneak it out lol. Then just tell the smog person that they can take it out for a spin in trade for a passing certificate lol.

No but seriously I hope you can get the smog part worked out. It would be cool to have a registered V8 powered HHR out there.

RWD Cobalt

Thank you for posting this link to the V8 Cobalt site. I was not aware of this car. Since the HHR is built on the Cobalt platform there is a lot of great info here. This guy has some really good ideas. I'm going to try to contact him for more info. I think that if enough people do this RWD V8 conversion, somebody will eventually get it right and then we can all have HHR's the way they should have came from Chevy....V8 RWD !!!

Cutting top off mule

I am half way finished with cutting the top off of the HHR mule. I should finish tomorrow. I'm cutting it off so I can turn the body upside down to work on it. I figure it will be easier to design and build the rear wheel drive and chassis stiffeners this way. I'll post pics tomorrow.

Make sure before you cut that roof/top off you Brace all the door jambs up like this.

Once you cut the top off the body may become flimsy. You want the main body Locked in place, so your pre fab work and measurements are correct.

You turn it over and the HHR body flexes out of place by 1/4-1/2" or alot more, everything will be off when you go to transfer all your custom parts to the real car.

You want to Keep everything Straight and True. The cars boby (unibody) is built like a box to keep it rigid, once you cut one side off (the top) it becomes flimsy and can easily flex alot. Be careful.

Search on Google images and look into car rotisseries, can be bought or diy made. You can search for plans or buy one.

Cutting Top Off

Here are some shots of the cross bracing being welded in and the top off the car. It really don't look bad with the top off. Has anyone ever considered building a phaeton???
