Have had all sorts of cars. Chose the HHR because I thought it had an unbeatable combination of looks (sporty), utility (can hold 2x4's or a TV), economy (30 mpg!), comfort (quiet and smooth), features & price. Replaced an SUV that got 17mpg on a good day....

39 year old male.

I have rheumatoid arthritis and now showing signs of osteoarthritis. I wanted something that was easier for me to get in and out of than a sedan without being a SUV or the dreaded minivan

The HHR met those goals, plus it gets good mileage and it looks cool.

I don't think it's a matter of being a male or female car. Instead we should look at which colors are popular with the different sexes. I've seen a lot of women on here with orange HHRs. A lot of the guys have light or dark gray or black. I'm still waiting for my yellow one so I can be just plain "cool"!

Hi Guys!
50 yr. old female here (so typical huh). Never been a "car" kind of girl; been driving Jeeps, trucks and VW's for over 30 years so I like the roominess of my HHR. Just to mention...... my husband who is in his 60's thought this car was ugly at first, (especially the Golden Teal Metallic) now I can't get him out of it! He drives a Titan truck most of the time. I get lots of compliments on her and she's definately a conversation starter. I think all of us look cool in our HHR's, and no matter what our age we can appreciate Class!

Mine is golden teal metallic too, and I also get a lot of compliments. I've had several strangers and co-workers ask me what brand/model it is.
