I am in the very same dilemma as yourself DBHHRLT, and the clock is ticking on how long they will make the HHR SS. If I can get a reasonable deal I think I may take the plunge. Like HHR_SS_QC says, "You only have one life to live".

This would make a great poll, can someone make one?

1k upside down isnt bad if you get 0% financing, as you will save 4 to 5k in finance charges.

but breaking stuff on a lt, isnt a good sign for keeping up an SS

Right now my car is value at $5,925(kbb) and $6,675(nada) and the car is a good condition. No rust or no dents, high mileage(68K), cd/radio interface is cracked but i have kenwood db din cd player(not install yet) and carpet/driver seat is most like dirty but everything else is clean and wiper blade in the back needs replace. I think that everything I can think of but hope to hear some feedback.
You didn't say whether you test drove an SS or not. I would think that you didn't, otherwise you'd probably be looking at a new loan book.

From my experience in this area, I was looking at LTs. I found one through the internet on a dealer lot about 75mi away with leather seats, sunroof, etc. I had already tried out an HHR LT and knew what I wanted. At the same time my son found an HHR SS at a different dealer and was pushing me to look at it (He's 19 of course). The dealer with the SS was conveniently on the way to the one that had the LT. I didn't intend on buying an SS, because it was a few $$$$ more, but I felt that I had to weigh in on the supposed virtues that the SS had to offer (I only read about them; never experienced them).

I stopped in at the first dealer, took the SS for a test drive and never made it to the second dealer. I was very impressed with the performance to say the least. I seen it as having all of the practicality of an HHR, but I was getting a sports car in disguise as well. I have an absolute gas driving this thing and sometimes take it for a ride just to take it for a ride. Something I haven't done with a vehicle for many years. It's more than transportation. And I think it was worth the extra $$$$. The only thing I miss is the heated leather seats, but the tradeoff was worth it.

can always add the heated seats-lots of kits out there, I'm thinking about it. I must say this car heats up so fast it's not even that big of a deal.

I say go for the SS. I bought an HHR when they first came out and it was Ok. Not fast, didn't handle like a go cart but it got from point A-B. I bought an SS over the summer and it's a totally different machine. Power to spare, especially with the stage kit and handles like a dream. I can't wipe the grin off my face driving it. Love speeding up in corners and hanging on for dear life. Even my better half just smiles when I push it to the limit. Then we hit the stores and load it up just like the old HHR and make it home in half the time. I wouldn't have bought another HHR is it wasn't for the SS. It corrects anything lacking in the HHR. So just do it and prepare to smile a lot.

Have you driven a SS? I drove both an automatic and a 5 speed, and i'm sold!!! The SS is a wicked ride and the thought of a stage one kit for some extra hp and factory warranty is a great option. So does anyone want a low mile LS...
yes i have test drive both. auto was okay. the manual i test drive had lsd and brembo brake and it was a 08 model.

i test drive ss before. it was about 6 months ago, i brought my lt to the same dealer which i originally purchase my car. short story i had to come up $1500 for down payment in order to trade my hhr since i dont have any cash laying around and my new car payment would be an extra $100 on my original car payment.
