Our 08 started making a scraping noise underneath near the wheels. Kind of metallic sound, but also like brake shoes. Only happens upon slow acceleration. Any ideas?

 

Time to have a look at the rear wheel hub bearings, brake shoes and the front wheel hubs and the rotors and pads. How many miles and years since any were replaced? A 2008 , LS, LT or SS , it could make a difference if it’s an SS

 

If it is coming from the front wheels there is a good chance it is the disc pad screechers telling you to replace the pads.

 

Have you looked under the car for debris? But good chance it's hubs.
