Speeding Ticket

My first traffic violation in 20 years. Sheriff Patrol officer wouldn't give me a break. Well, he gave me a little break. I was speeding 72 in a 55 and he gave me a ticket for 65 in a 55. I think it will be less than a $100.00 fine.

Stupid thing was I set my cruise at 63 then absent-mindedly kept my foot on the gas pedal.

I knew when I got my HHR Panel sooner or later I would get a ticket.

Ouch - at least it wasn't too bad.

Up here 40kPH/25MPH over the posted limit (you were under of course) gets your vehicle impounded for at least a week, and a fine between $368-$483, 3 points on your licence, and your insurance premium is increased by $320 per year, for 3 years ($960 total) (if you get another one, they add $320/year for another 3 yrs). AND your vehicle is impounded for 7 days - and you pay for the towing and storage fees.

There has recently been a bit of media coverage on this due to families on vacation being stranded out in the middle of nowhere, with no cell coverage etc. - and nope, the police don't drive you to the nearest bit of civilization.

Holy cow! Oh Canada.....

Holy cow! Oh Canada..... but for 25 MPH over speed limit the fine would be much more here. I was only 10 mph over.

In Michigan I won't get any points and my insurance won't go up. Its been 20 years so I don't feel bad considering how many times in that 20 years I have broken driving laws.

We've had a fair number of incidents up here, where a pack of VERY expensive cars goes streetracing, with the back of their pack slowing down and blocking traffic so the front runners can get an open stretch of road to run their Porsches/Ferraris/Jags/Aston Martins, Lambos etc. at ultra high speeds.

That, and groups of sport bikes that run at very high speeds through packs of traffic, or like the idiot in Victoria BC that camed his high speed ride (he got busted when they tracked the bike through the local dealer, and identified the bike by scratches on the triple tree) -
.

So they have really cracked down up here.

That's crazy, it's nice we don't have those strict rules in Manitoba.

Sad to hear about the ticket.

Whopper
about 10 years ago on Interstate 81 in Virginia I had a motorcycle split between my car and a Semi at speed. I did not see it comng and it startled the crap out of me. These idiots don't realize that they could cause someone to jerk the wheel and get them or crash into some other inocent party. I hope they jacked up the jail and threw him under it.

Think the panel will get you a ticket, try a SS. I managed to get one for 71 in a 35 and I hadn't gone a block yet...I hate to be late for an appointment. Got dismissed in court, get a Lawyer they always make mistakes on speeding tickets. If it didn't mess with your insurance, I'd just pay it. My attorney will give your money back if He can't beat it.
