I would think it depends on the replacement.

If it replaces the ENTIRE cluster, i.e., you are removing all of the "receiving" units and other paraphernalia, then yes it will not display true mileage. I am not speaking for a supplier/maker who may have provided for this type of application. I've heard that some aftermarket manufacturers have provided for this by allowing the OEM odom. to maintain the original position, in some replacements

If you are placing the overlay, then probably not.

Don't forget, if replacing the entire unit, the DIC functions may be inoperable, as well.

Yes. No.

Check with DLVRNIT. He's in the middle of such a swap. In his case, the donor car was an SS and the receiver is not... so he is having some issues with the IP reading miles.

I was told when the SS first came out that it could not be programmed to work in a LT or LS.

Well I didn't want to Hassle with my dealership as all they seem to know is R & R (remove the bad part and re-install a new part) ! For your problem I have two recommendations! 1) Remove the original cluster and have the Tach repaired! 2) The dealer can replace the cluster with a new one but I believe from what I've been told needs to be sent out to have the correct milage programed into the Odometer!

Maybe Yes or Maybe No ,
