Have never had it activated, apparently know not what I'm missing.

Then again, I intentionaly left the cell phone home all of last weekend and didn't miss it either.

Onstar is based on a sat phone connection. It will connect when your cellphone can not. You also have roadside asst and they will scan for any codes if your car has a check engine light. Lastly, if you ever get into a crash where you can not find your phone and/or is knocked out, you would still have help on the way.
