Hello everybody. I bought an HHR and discovered this great site recently. My HHR started doing the "---" problem which aims me to the thermostat (thanks to researching this site) My question is this.

Why does the dealer charge 54.80 out the door for the thermostat when Autozone has the replacement for 21?

I am wondering if the dealer charges that much for a reason. Is that particular thermostat special or different from all thermostats in some way?

I cant justify paying over 19 bux for a thermostat and cant even comprehend spending 50!

I called dealer and said "price on 2.4l ecotec thermostat please"

Dealer says "54.80 out the door."

I said "did you forget to say april fools?"

By the way, I researched for a 2008. Just noticed yours is a 2006. Change the model year and reload, but I believe they're the same price.

 

Autozone stat works just fine.........

 

Most parts stores sell as many stats in a month that many dealer will sell in a year or even two. They offer them and make up for the low volume with price. Some people pay it.

You can get a AC Delco at many places resonable and no one is holding a gun making you go to the dealer.
