I would reccomend a sway bar if you are towing much. That will reduce it getting pushed around by the wind as much. And keep the size and weight of your loads reasonable. Curly

 

This info was so helpful! I have never been camping, but I have seen the teardrop campers at an RV dealership on my way home every day. I must confess I have often wondered if HHRvey could haul one, and now I have the answer. Might have to think about this in the near future...

Yup, we towed a Can-Am Spyder on vacation with us back in April from NorCal to Arizona and back. We got 20ish MPG as well and the weight had to be in the 1200 pound range including the trailer. The car didn't like the hills very much but it performed admirably all the same.

 

Just got back sunday from a trip to SC from DE..pulled a full size Harley on a small trailer plus bags and cooler with 2 people.It was great! The air bags did the job well with 12 psi. The SS ran normal temps the whole time ( monitored for indications of tranny load) , Tire temps didn't gain more then 3 psi..averaged 25.3 mpg total trip including the little bit of running around in town. Avg sped of 52 though actual hwy spd was 65 to 75 ( Lots of 45 zones and red lights).And I'll tell ya, when it came to getting out of the way the beast just pulled away without a groan , ping or knock (on reg gas)! The boost gage typically read about 2-5 psi vacuum and didn't really see more then 10 psi boost, but then I didn't push it to find out. And a small trick note , on the way back I got behind a 3 axle toy hauler and watched my DIC hover around 35 mpg at 70mph and you could easily fit 2 cars between us. Too bad he wasn't going the whole way back! 1167 miles with two fill ups and a top of and still had 2/3 tank pulling in the driveway! If anybody is still ascared to tow...well..just stay home then, these cars have NO problem doing the job.And yes, its an auto. And no , didn't run the AC as it wasn't needed. Tongue wt was about a hundred or so..which is the key to loading.
On a side note..has anybody else noticed when you turn the heat on that the temp actually increases???And when off it goes back down to normal??Thought maybe I was catching it just right for the cycle of the thermostat but then when I left it off it stayed down ( done one the way home from work today) Did this several times with the same results.. even at diff speeds..in town compared to hwy....weird.Any ways..happy towing!!

 

Great to hear the bags work for so many of you. I have been on the fence about getting them for my Eibach's. I'm convinced, now I am gonna get them.
