Smile Toy's First Loaded Road Trip

Just got back from a week in Las Vegas. Lost my @$$ but had a good time. This is the first time I've done a road trip to Vegas with less than 6 cylinders. With her loaded with 4 adults (2 of us @ 200+ lbs) and luggage (total cargo + occupants = 910 lbs est), the Toy averaged 28 mpg @ 70-75 mph...not bad for a 4 banger while climbing the Cajon pass and doing the vegas grades

Glad to hear your road trip went well and you had a good time (except losing your a$$) Guess this post answers the question I asked in reply to your PM. Thanks again for the photo of the Dale Earnhardt statue. I love it.

Every trip I take I'm more please with the HHR's performance. I'm heading out to spend Christmas with family next week. It will be interesting to see if myself, two large teenagers, luggage, and Christmas presents will all fit. We had a bad habit of filling up that minivan without even trying.

Glad to hear that your HHR did you well. For thanksgiving I went up to my uncles house in Virgina Beach, VA which is a long drive from Hickory, NC. I was running with me and my girl friend but little to no luggage and got 32mpg on the free way at 70mph. That is great mileage for me after being used to my first ride( 1986 GMC C1500 w/ 5.7L V8 @ 12-13mpg ) I will be heading back up there for Christmas so I am hopeful to get just as good mileage. Glad to hear that you are getting good luck as well.

Yeah, we go to Vegas quite often - it's not that far from Phoenix, most times we can make it in about 3-4 hours. I've lost my @$$ there, too, on occasion, but that's okay - in Vegas you can always rent new @$$!!!
