Trans question HHR

There is much more slack (wheel movement) on driver side than pass side, could the drive chain inside the trans be the problem, or is this normal? I thought it could be the CV axle but the loss motion seems to be inside the trans. 2006/2.2/ auto.

Thanks...Bill

It never occurred to me to check. I don't know where exactly the park pawl is, that could be what you are seeing.

HA Oldblue when I first saw that episode I got way more excited than I should have to see the camera pan out and reveal an HHR!

Buried at the very end, I think is the answer. The one side is "drive" the other side is "driven".

I have never heard of a drive chain wearing out. If it was any wear issue it would be in the differential part.

It's got to be the CV, the park pawl locks the shaft that drives both wheels, also answered the question, can the drive chain be replaced without disassembling trans. #13 is the park pawl. DOMBREW, all the slack is on the drive/chain side, the dif/spider side has normal movement..Bill
