Neons are a thing of the past, the Caliber is it's replacement.

Every auto manufaturer has what is referred to as an "MPG Index." This is a number averaged from the number of vehicles in the product line vs. each vehicle's gas mileage average. Manufacturer's are currently under a mandate to "get those numbers up," (the overall MPG numbers that is), and that's where the HHR comes in.

This is why; a) Chevy made the HHR to sell so "cheap," and b) why you won't see a V6 or beast 4 in the HHR. Chevy needs to sell a bundle of high-mpg HHR's to get their numbers up. Now a supercharged 2.4L won't affect those numbers much, and that is why they are testing one right now...

My wife's new '06 Accord has 210hp stock! Every time I drive it I swear it has a V6. I think the ultimate HHR mod is to drop the whole drivetrain from an '06 Accord right in the front! (Stop me...or else!)

Then we wouldn't have to look so hard to find aftermarket parts!

thats the the most important factor with our Caliber purchase and hhr trade-in.

i personally think the market isnt there for the hhr in a performance aspect if it was there be parts out for it since the model has been on the roads for close to a year. i was hunting the whole time for performnce mods and mostly all that could be found was floormats and graffics, The HHR is a GREAT commuter car, which it was built for,but truthfully thats all it is.
the caliber is more performance driven in several aspects, the steering, brakes, suspension, transmission. dont get me wrong the look of the HHR is great ! but the weak brakes, suspension, and the drivetrain (the 2.4 is nice but still noisey and unrefined) and thats my opionin why chevy might not build an hhr with a turbo 4 or v-6 atleast untill it gets facelift in a few years. We bought our HHR based on the look soley, and the fact that there wasnt any others around the area at the time.

Well guys - I feel for ya, really I do. I have been talking with aftermarket manufacturers for months about cold-air intakes, cat-backs, computer mods, rear disc kits w/drilled/slotted rotors, etc. and let me tell you - trying to get these parts built and available for a first-year model car is very hard. Seems many of them want to see what kind of numbers GM is actually selling before they'll even talk about it.

Both K&N and AEM have prototyped cars for the intakes and they are both dragging their feet bringing them to market. I've had my personal HHR in 3 times!

You all know what a "promoter" of the HHR I am too. I have emailed many till they're blue in the face and still we find ourselves on the waiting list!

Parts will come eventually...'till then, we just have to wait!

MIKE,
we know its not by any fault of yours! i have personally seen several post about you working with manufactures, and i give you huge props !! i have talked with shops out here in vegas, which is known for custom rides, and they dont really have an intrest in the hhr, it is very disappointing.... i have been told "if it was a turbo-4 or if it had a better suspension set-up" they be willing to work with it and prototype, but most of those guys are customizing magnums, chargers, big suv's. i have even been told the rims will never be a big market for the hhr cause the 110x5 bolt pattern, only the larger companys will make that pattern, cause the market is SO small and if you can get a smaller compnay to do it there will be a long wait and huge price.
