The oil life on the DIC has its up's and downs. For people that are used to changing the oil every 2500-3000 miles its useless because thats whats you've been doing for years. For new car owners its interesting because you dont have to worry about the oil until the computer tells you. HOWEVER how much faith can you put into technology now-a-days? i changed the oil at 4800 and the DIC still didn't tell me to change it and i was worried that my engine was going to seize. It's all depending on the person

To me a useless thing on the HHR would have to be the cupholder in the rear of the center console. Put anything but change in it and watch it go. I had my fiance's daughter put a can of soda in there. A fairly small object in height and the second I accellerated from the light it tipped and landed on the carpet. Luckily it wasn't open. But at least they could make the thing functional and not just an inch deep.

Hey Snoopy i think the only thing you would have to worry about in AZ is the road temp getting way too hot and blowing out your tires unless you live near Flagstaff or Sedona lol. Oh yea that and the sun discoloring your paint job. Phoenix airport has aircraft holding because the runway temperature gets soo hot they have to hose down the runways with water otherwise the airplanes tires would explode on landing

They don't call AZ H***S Kitchen for nothing lol j/k. I lived in Chandler for about 4 months while I was in training and I've also been to the Grand Canyon and stopped by Sedona on my way back. It's waaayyy too hot for me there

yes, GM should honor the warranty if you change oil accorging to the DIC (I am). If they didn't why would they have the dang thing.

I would think the cars computer would keep track of the oil change warnings etc.

There have been other discussions about how the oil used today is much better that the oil used 20-30 years ago when you had to change it every 3000 miles.

Old habits die hard.

O'k...now I owe you a GOOD IMPORTED cigar. I stated that intentionally to see who would notice. But, it took you about a half hour. I think YOU had to look it up.

Opps forgot to say this is for nfboy...

That is the point of the oil life monitor. GM will tell you to follow that, not the antiquated 3000 mile rule. Changing the oil before the monitor says only wastes money, fills the coffers of the oil companies and the companies that do oil changes.

I was specifically told by my dealer not to waste my time and money changing the oil before th DIC said. I have read up on the subject and believe it is a useful feature, not a useless one at all. I do not see remembering to set it any different than remembering to bring the vehicle in for an oil change in the first place.
