Cool Water flooding passenger side

I'm sure this has been discussed here somewhere, but I am not seeing it. Forgive me if this needs to be on an existing thread, but I need help.

I got in my car recently to find an inch of water pooled on the passenger side floor. I looked on YouTube and discovered what was causing this. Under the cowl next to the windshield, there is a large sealing gasket that prevents water leaks into the cabin. I have ordered the part and am awaiting its arrival

Until it arrives, I am trying my best to find where the water is actually getting in. I put a plastic tarp over the gap at the top of the hood, but that didn't work. Does anyone know where that water is getting in?

Looks like you have a 2009 HHR, the repair you're planning is only needed on 2006 models. And they only leaked there when it rained (or car wash, etc.)

Your problem is more likely a clogged AC condensate drain. It's in the engine compartment on the firewall. I just dealt with this for the first time last week.

I used this blow gun with my air compressor, put some vacuum tubing on the tip, and snaked it down there to blow out the clog.

Or, if you have a sunroof: the sunroof drain is broken
Or, the wiring conduit on the door is broke/not sealed.

But I'm sure it hasn't been raining recently, and that it's probably been hot in Texas, and the AC has been on whenever the vehicle is in use.

I’m thinking the A/C tray drain is the culprit.

I had such a miracle when autumn leaves accumulated in the corners of the engine compartment under the hood. It clogged some water passages and this water found a new path into the interior.

Thanks man. I appreciate it.

This car has sat for a year due to title issues, which I have since rectified. The car has not been driven or the AC ran since it was parked. The only time I have this problem is after a heaay rain. Due to that, I will pull the cowl and check that butyl patch just to make sure, but I'll check that AC drain while I'm in the neighborhood.

Thanks again.

Flooding in Austin and San Antonio, probably from rain.

That was recommended to me by the dealership as well, but since the passenger side floor only floods when it rains, I am thinking that butyl patch is the culprit. This car has not been driven for a long time, well over a year. But I will check your suspected issue as well. Thanks much.

Thanks Don. No, I checked and replaced the front door seals not too long ago, The car has sat for a year and a lot of the various seals were sun rotting. I was thinking that was the problem but it persisted anyway. And I have no sun roof so it's either the butyl patch under the cowl or the AC drain filter. But since this car hasn't been driven for over a year, the AC has not been engaged.
