Not that it really matters.

I noticed that if you depress the brake pedal with the ignition off, only the high mounted stop lamp lights up. The "regular" brake lamps do not.

I've never seen this before.

As a side note, the HHR logo brake lamp cover I installed is pretty nice, got it from mmgraphics on eBay.

 

What does yours say? Mine says HHR in big letters.

Same here! I had a similar one on my Mustang. It said Mustang in the middle with a pony on each side.
