What Air Intake System to Use?

Trying to decide if I should order the Airaid or the K&N air intake system.
I'm leaning toward the K&N system because it has a cover and I am concerned with having an open filter which the Airaid would be.
I also know the CGS system is suppose to give more performance and better mileage etc. but I don't like the fact that I will have to do some slight modification for their filter or spend additional money for a different filter.
Your opinions please.................

I have the CGS and no modification or spending extra money on mine. To me the others look just as ugly sitting up there where the old intake was. Thats just me

Thumbs up

I have the Airaid intake. The CGS isn't rated for the 2.2 engine, just the 2.4

The Airaid is loud when you step on it, but get up and go is great! I got 34.5 mpg without the air conditioner on at 70mph of freeway driving around 70 degrees.

With the air conditioner on, I got 33 mpg on freeway going 70mph at about the same temp, maybe 85 degrees.

There are members on the board using the CGS on the 2.2L (courthousedeb comes to mind). The air requirements between the two engines are similar, the only modification the CGS needed if I recall was a longer screw and some minor re-shaping of the support post for the intake tube for it to fit on the 2.2 (which might not be needed for '07 since it went to coil-over plugs.).

No mods needed to fit it on the 07 2.2, i have it on mine, the only thing i need to do now is get rid of the "Outlaw" filter and put a k&n on it. That stupid thing rattles like crazy even with attempting to adjust everything.

Rattling was one of my concerns. I have an e-mail in to the folk's at cgs. I want them to tell me exactly what to expect, enenthough I have knowledge of some issues.

Well i don't think that you can get the CGS with the outlaw anymore b/c as far as i know only SoCal HHR offered the outlaw. I don't think the outlaw was really anything special because i saw a friends POS apc filter that looked exactly the same as the outlaw. What ever the case may be, k&n has the best rep out there of all the filter company's.

the CGS will work the same for the 2007 2.2s because they have the individual coils like the 2.4's. probably why they can tune the ECM on the 2007 and not the 2006
on the 2006 2.2's. bend the arm about 2 inches before where it is now, drill a hole for the new placement and then cut off the end.
