What Did You Do To Your HHR Today?
Took Paddy for a nice long drive on some back roads, then I picked up my wife and headed to meet other family members at the funeral home to make arraignments for a family member we lost yesterday.
It was not a good Sunday, and I'll be around the forum a bit more this week since I'm staying home in NC.

Hey Boydie, yes my grille was chromed but I painted them black. The only feature I don't care for is the stock grille, and on mine it just seemed to slap ya right I the face so I swapped it out for that nice (now)black set. Looks much nicer now

Hey, I have had that same sun visor on my panel for several months. I love it.
Also have the same billet grilles except mine are chromed. I have been thinking about painting them black.

I did something today that has never happened to me before, broke a stud while torqueing the wheels.
17 lugnuts torqued up with the usual "click click", but #18 went "ping", leaving me holding a torque wrench and feeling somewhat chagrined.
Stress fracture, fatigue, dumb luck, who knows. But getting the remains of the broken stud out of a Gorilla brand locking lugnut with an E-Z Out Out took an hour. Replacing the stud took five minutes, it pays to keep a couple of spares in the box labeled "Odd HHR bits & pieces".
You need to ease up o those high speed diaper changes, they are making you too buff, you don't know your own strength..
I ordered some seats for the rear......

Reminds me of the 1968 Buick LeSabre I owned. Had a flat tire on the way to work one day. When the first stud broke I didn't worry
. then a second
and third broke
leaving me with 2 studs holding the wheel on.
Had no choice but to continue the 15 mile trip to work and then the 50 mile ride home. Made it but I didn't drive too fast.
The Buick studs just drove out of the housing. You put a lug nut on the stud and just drove it out with a heavy hammer. Tapped a new one back in to start and when you tightened it with the wheel on it was pulled tight and secure. Got the whole job done in an hour or so. Never happened again though, just that one time with that car.

Back in the Saddle...........................Thanks Sam, its been a bear of a week, some sweet rides there I see. Something oddly familiar about the blue one, where have I seen it before?

I put new KYB rear shocks on, That took care of the bang-clunk sound that I thought was a spring. And I ordered new Monroe quick struts#172179 with the *.
Now on to the door lock issue. It has slow moving door locks ( except when putting it park) The passenger side is slower. My mechanic friend tells me to unhook the battery for 24 hours, maybe the BCM will re-learn ? He says to try it before buying door lock actuators.
But he wonders if it will affect the radio anti theft device. Any Ideas?... john

Shouldn't affect the radio other than losing your station presets, the anti-theft would prevent the radio from functioning if removed and installed in another vehicle, until it was matched up using a Tech II.(most radio thieves aren't that smart)
The sticky/laggy locks may require lubrication, you might pull the inner door panels and check the mechanisms for corrosion/binding/etc.
