What Did You Do To Your HHR Today?
What a day... I found where almost all of the loose connectors go with a few exploded diagrams. There is still one that seems a to be just floating in the breeze though. It goes to the brake booster, with a white connector and looks like it is the vacuum line (pictured above) for the brake booster. It runs under a connections coming out of the fuse box, and just ends. I would think with it being a vacuum line it would go to the intake manifold somewhere but it seems to come up just short... I'll have to do a bit more digging.
The chain tensioner is STILL stuck in the head. Pulled the wipers off, and the plastic trim to get on it better. I tried a better impact, nothing, ratchet with piece of square stock and a jack... Nothing. POS torque wrench that is waaaay out to get on it better and a different jack... Still nothing. Didn't want to use heat because of the soft aluminum, but I'm going to have to. This is of course after I had to give it another go with just me pulling on it with a few extensions on the ratchet handle and busted myself up rather nicely on the sharp edge of the head.

That vacuum line may be the one that goes to the EVAP purge solenoid. An old plumber gave me this hint on loosening stuck threads: You can pull and push as much as you want, but a 2 lb hammer at the base of the wrench is all it takes.
tensioner is only torqued to 55 lbs, sounds like somebody was eating their Wheaties.
send out caliper bracket for powder coating, waiting for new 11.65 rotors and pads from Crossdrilledrotors.ca I don't have a co-pilot today for the stock brake 60 to 0 mph tests so maybe tomorrow.

Replaced the rear hatch bowtie and removed the dealer sticker.
Oh, and bought my alarm remote start unit, hopefully put it in the next week or so.

Sam, nice pod mod!! now keep your eyes on the road and your hands upon the wheel!!!
today a little warmer, headed out to put up some holiday lights, ( can I say Christmas lights?) and a meet up with the guys for lunch at noon, then new tires, I choose BFG Advantage T/A's.
The wife stated she has very good grip all year long on the Sunfire GT with these and at 10,000 miles there is no visible signs of tread wear
The BFG Traction T/A's were my first choice I have a set on now with 73,000 miles, but they are discontinued.
so that's what I will be doing today

Found out what my mid-size oil leak is. Seal between lower and top end of crankcase failed: the engine needs to come out and crankcase needs split/resealed. At 170,000 miles I don't think so. I could find an used engine for less money but putting 2k in a 4k car isn't very sensible.
I am just going to keep driving it, add oil as needed and sadly stare at the stains on my driveway.
