That's the plan, 611 is in fairly decent shape, just requiring new flues and repairs to the intentional "vandalism" done by the short sighted management of Norfolk Southern when they stopped their steam program.

I'm really looking forward to seeing UP 4014 in steam, a running Big Boy, never thought we'd see the day.

I saw the news on Bill Smith this morning Oldblue, very sad indeed, but he'll live on in all the great memories he helped create.

I had my tire rotated a couple of weeks ago and just discovered yesterday that the Service Tech did not return my socket for the locking lugnuts to my glove box. Went to the Dealer and they were very nice. Checked with the mechanic and he did not have it but remembered that he had brought a socket to he service writer's desk and left it there but they could not find it. The service writer told me they would make it good. If I can find out what lug lock socket I need and purchase it they will reinburse me and if I can't get the right lug socket they will buy me all new locking lugnuts and install them. I guess you can't ask for better than that short of not losing it in the first place.

I was reading my factory manual for my HHR, when changing the power steering motor there is 8 calibrations that have to be done and the dealer charges $105.00 and no one else can do it??

I believe that may be for SS only. For the others, as long as the toe and steering wheel postion don't change you should not need any calibration at all. Technically all of those calibration are supposed to be done when you get an alignment, but that don't happen.

If you have ABS & ESC there is a steering torque angle sensor that needs to understand where the front wheels are pointing for the ESC to function properly. Problems occur when people re-align the steering wheel to center it rather than adjusting the toe.

Got the recall notices from GM on our HHRs, I don't like the fact that the VIN number is on the front of the envelope and nowhere does it distingish between the 09 and the 10. Oh well my dealer has the parts on order for both cars and will let us know when to bring them in.
I just went back and did find one place that tells us which one is which.

I will be having my power steering electric motor installed next week which I bought from a salvage yard, my question is to those that have bought the motor from a dealer and the dealer charges a $40.00 core charge Im guessing they are being rebuilt and The dealer is reselling the rebuiltmotor, I was national service mgr. for a major electric motor and many years in sales and engineering, my experience most rebuilt electric motors are better than the new one, Im going to have my motor rebuilt to keep as a spare in case the salvage yard one should fail someday, any one know???
