New cabin filter and air filter for the yeSS today. Broke off the tab in the rear wiper arm so that the glass will be easier to clean. Started replacing the clutch pedal return spring kit. The center bushing has been broken for a while, I guess. The spring has a groove in it, it would have failed at some point. The clutch pedal arm also has a nice groove in it.
I mixed up some JB Weld and slopped it on there. I'll try cleaning it up with a file tomorrow and, if it works, install the new bushing and spring. I feel that the bushing will break again if there isn't material in that groove.

Ya know, I just couldn't wait for tomorrow. I filed the JB weld down and reinstalled the clutch return spring and bushings.

 

I took my wife's 09 in yesterday morning for the recall. Less thaan an hour later it was back and washed ready to go. Like I have said before my dealer is
good.

A run to summer home in Erie yesterday, clean all those micro winged buzzards off the front today! Later a trip to London Ont.

 

Got new ignition assembly installed and 2 new keys per Recall. Took a little over an hour at the Dealership. Fairly painless wait as they have good magazines. I asked about the GM Recall on the Power Steering Motor and Service Writer said,"GM will send a second letter when parts become available and then we(Dealership) will set up an installation time and date." He had no idea what the leadtime might be so I have to just wait and see.

 

Just finished installing trailer hitch on the wife's 06 2LT and for future reference, I know most will just take their HHR/HHR SS to a shop and have the hitch installed, but, I do a lot of work by myself, soooooo, if you have access to a lift, this is not a hard job, maybe an hour, start to finish, but, those that do not have access to a lift, and do it on the ground, like I just did, you'll need an extra set of hands at one point, then the rest is easy, took me 1 1/2 hours by myself, (with the extra set of hands at the needed moment)

And diagnosis throughout the suspension.
Results of diagnostics:
1. Rear Shocks - killed;
2. Bushings of axis - killed;
3. Engine mounting rear left - died long ago and already decayed;
4. Control Arm bushing - premature death at a young age. This is my main disappointment, I replaced the Control Arms (in assembly!!) only 5 months ago. Tempted by cheap items, thrice damned taiwan.
In the near future a lot of work for me.
