Had a scare on the highway yesterday afternoon. The studs on the wheel spacers I installed sheered off at highway speed on the driver side rear wheel. Lucky for me two of the remaining studs held on allowing me to safely exit and stop my bus.


To anyone looking to run spacers, please look for a reputable company and always buy new. I purchased these 1" spacers from a member on the cobaltss forums. I understand the failure of the studs is not his fault and I'm in no way blaming the seller for faulty equipment. The seller was a top notch guy and had/has a bunch of great parts for sale. Although I really like the aggressive look the spacers gave my hhr, I will never run another set again.

that is why
A : I don't like spacers
B : I always handle tighten and torque the lug nuts
C : I won't use spacers

I'm happy you're alive to show use the pictures and that we didn't lose another HHR

Thanks Oldblue. I'm coming to the realization that parts like these aren't put through the same stress tests as genuine factory GM parts go through or any other car manufacturer for that matter.

I'm also glad I didn't loose my HHR. I love this car and I'm already planning on buying a second one in the near future, preferably an SS.

Yikes nrvous1, that was too close to driving a three wheeler.

I'm with Oldblue, wheel spacers, even the really good ones, are a compromise.

Well it's Friday, Sweetie starts her chemotherapy today in preparation for her bone marrow transplant next week, so I'll be driving up to Hamilton
