What Did You Do To Your HHR Today?
Yesterday, a wash , dry and then run around to get the GT cleaned up for sale, it’s been in dry storage , we do start and drive it every other week.
But the 2012, battery gave up and croaked. So, a new battery had to be purchased and installed, then return the old battery for core refund.
Today a slow day, just chill for the afternoon!

Pulled the headliner up front to check the sunroof drain connection. It was fine.
I went to set up the new wet/dry vac, and found the fittings were cheap and funky (ebay vac... misclicked and thought I was ordering a better one. Oh well... this one can go to dog cage cleaning) and way too much trouble.
In a former life, as an aircraft mechanic, I had some tools that came in handy... specifically, a big plastic syringe and some soft-ish plastic tubing that fits with a nice tight seal in the sunroof drain hole. Using these I determined that, yes, the drain was
plugged up airtight. The first time I pushed the plunger in, it blew the tube out of the drain hole, so I squeezed it back in and cycled it more gently until it blew the obstruction out. A quick water test, and it was flowing freely out the intended doorway drain. WOO!
Then, feeling froggy, I went ahead and attacked the old, noisy and balky blower fan. Sure enough, when I pulled it, I found a very rusty motor shaft... haven't taken it apart to see the bearing, but probably won't bother.
After installing the new one (I replaced the resistor... again... a week or so ago), I finally have quiet, controllable air! While my aircraft chafe-tape has held up well atop the airbox, even with the soaking we've gotten, I think I'll set aside some time on an upcoming weekend to
cut some aluminum for a more permanent patch.
As for the sunroof. I'm a bit more apprehensive. There are a lot of moving parts, and I've never worked on these. I know the seals are just about gone, and some plastic bits appear to be broken, such as the accordion folded pieces on either side. The glass is fine, and
the 'roof functions fine in tilt and retract, but it probably needs a complete re-seal, or whatever you'd call replacing the rubber and plastic bits. I'll search around the forum for more info, but if anyone can link a thread, that'd be welcome too.

tonite , Hudson is over for his first sleepover away from home.
I was good, no blood curdling stories about how the same guy designed both the HHR and the PT Cruiser.
or about the block porosity it the 2008 2.0 LNF block.
ahhh Haa hhaaa! Scary kiddies!

Took a drive, got an hour away from home and started feeling a vibration and noise in the rear. Had to pull into a garage to have it looked at. The primary pad on the rear drum brake on the drivers side had come loose a bit and was catching on the drum. Original brakes, 12 years is a pretty good life for them I guess. They just took off the loose bit to get me home. I think I've done the front brakes 6 times now. Last time was with drilled and slotted rotors made in China. They have held up the best without warping so far, and were the least expensive.
