Pulled starter. Discovered no leak. Replaced switch anyway and determined oil leak was from 13 years of sloppy oil changes and 145k of road grime.
I may be wrong but now I'll be able to chase oil residue.
There was oil in the bellows portion of the harness but not in the connector.
On the good side is I now have a very clean lower engine. 13 years of road grime is very messy.
Are all of our starter motors silver?

I'm sorry to hear that. Although my 06 HHR was traded away in 2014, I had 133,000+ miles and very few issues. The only issue that soured me on Cheys was the dealers and their "repairs" . The "fixed" the ignition cylinder recall then the need to fix the door lock cylinder as the new key didn't work. I was told the door cylinder was "worn"???. I used the key fob to open the door so I never used the key to unlock the door. Chevy had no viable replacement vehicle. The Equinox was too big and the Trax wasn't a recommended car. I replaced the HHR with a 2015 Hyundai Tucson. And replaced that with a 2017 Tucson after the 2015 was broad sided.

Looks sharp, obviously you like the carbon fiber look. Everyone has their own taste, me, I have always liked the wood look.

(edit) but a bit over 15 years ago I did add carbon fiber looking sport mirrors to my former Chevy S-10.

Drove down to get a vintage 2X15 inch bass speaker cabinet... Thing weighs a ton.

Cleaned the engine compartment. I refrained from using Q-tips, but was sorely tempted....

Pulled the wiper cowl. Found the 'butyl patch' down by the cabin filter and the area filled with debris. (pictures in photo album, I can never get them sized correctly to insert into thread).
After new windshield is installed this afternoon will install new one. The fun never ends.
Ended up covering old patch with aluminium tape (both sides) and reinstalling.
ONCE AGAIN I must thank those that have gone before me and discussed and shown how to keep these wonderful trucklets alive, kickin and clean.

Yesterday morning parked the HHR , shiney and clean, in the garage.
Sweetie wants her ride to be our new long distance driver!
