Nothing yesterday or today! I did my good deed yesterday and changed my neighbour’s tires from summer tire to winter tires, it is good that he has two sets of wheels! Maybe later Sweetie and I will venture out for a drive to shake off the onset of cabin fever!

We did have a visitor stop by for dinner! I believe it to be a Peregrine falcon, it got 2 mourning doves.

It sat in this tree in front of our house for several hours.

It sure looks like a Peregrine Falcon and when it swooped in for the kill, she dropped down from about 1,500 ft like a bullet.

Very cool. Not that it matters much but pretty sure that’s a cooper’s hawk. They thrive in city and suburban neighborhoods with big old trees. I’ve driven down my street following a cooper’s hawk, chasing a sparrow. Always fun to see them in action. Peregrines like cliffs, but seem to be OK with the occasional skyscraper. Coyotes are another predator adapting nicely to cities and towns. As we convert the planet for human use, some of those critters manage to adapt.

We have coyotes come into our subdivision every Sunday night, why, not football, it’s garbage night!
It might be a Cooper’s Hawk, the tail looks different and the marking around the eyes seem more Peregrine. Either way, fun to see this close up.

Doesn't look like the Cooper's hawks we have down here in Alabama. There are a couple that live year round on my property. The ones here always stay low. You never see them go above the tree tops. Mostly they fly thru the trees about 8 feet off the ground.
Yeah. I find piles of bird feathers every once in a while. The hawks got to eat !

There are always exceptions, birds are opportunists, but typically Cooper Hawks are ground or bush capture of prey. Peregrine Falcon capture prey in flight... So unless those dove were flying when caught, you have yourself a Cooper.

I have a young Cooper Hawk here that sits on top of my bird feeder wondering why there are no birds.... He'll learn.

Beautiful bird none the less. We have hawks as well, but look nothing like this one. They seem to eat well, I see feathers spread like a bomb hit of some smaller bird.

I guess so.. Guy up the hollow has a hawk he has trained, lets out a pigeon & a bit later lets the hawk loose.. Pigeon doesn't return. But the hawk does.. He is a jerk & a Policeman.
