I figure the KROWN will at least slow down any rust ! Did ,y Truck a week or so ago !
Reviews on the Master Craft Tires have been good so worth a shot :)
My Cheapo RADAR tires held up well so a better tire should as well. They have a 60k tread warranty !

My window cost me a nice few bucks :O But agree they should help a lot! I put plastic over them and the plastic inflates like a balloon lol..

Yesterday my daughter was driving to school in oldblue, and she said the engine "started clicking" and losing power. She got off the highway and into a hotel parking lot. I picked her up and took her to school. Had oldblue towed to my house. When I started it, it started easily but had a violent shaking and a tapping noise, There were codes set for random misfire, knock sensor performance, and a code for (P0068) throttle position correlation.

Today I started the troubleshooting. Removed the cam cover to check the timing chain. All was well with the chains.

Next I thought it was possible the intake manifold (plastic) might have cracked, which could cause the throttle position sensor to not correlate with the MAF sensor reading. All was well with the intake manifold.

I decided to look around to see if there was anything visually obvious.

What's this? A hole in the block? Hmm, that just might be a problem:

Oldblue, threw a connecting rod? Where’s the hole ?

I got the shower pan set, had to break the cement around the drain pipe to get the drain coupler to sit correctly , back to framing the shower walls

The hole is in the front of the engine, down low, cylinder #1.

Time to look for a replacement HHR.

I will be looking for a more-southern vehicle with little rust, LT with leather seats, located within about 5 hours away or so. Another SS would be nice , though this one would have to be an auto trans.

Could the hole be from the accident a month or so ago?

I don't think so, as the engine was running fine. Also, there was oil spray out of the hole on the parts around the area. I would have noticed oil on the floor.

BTW, I am buying some tune-up parts for the other HHRs and noticed that Rock Auto has the AC Delco iridium plugs on a special promotion for $3 off per plug. This reduces the price per plug to $2.63, which is a great deal.

Steve

I looked up the AC Delco/Rock Auto rebate on the plugs and it expires on 9/30/2021 so no hurry.

Also, you can claim up to 16 plugs for up to $48 total.

I hope she does ok. Her arm will probably hurt a few days. It took me out a few days with body aches and exhaustion. I'm going back to work tonight finally. I'm not 100% but can't afford to miss work so much.
