Cranked up Boo Boo to head to the NAPA store for parts, drove Michelle's old Honda today to see if I could figure out the misfire at idle, it got worse on the way home from Charlotte.

Number three plug came out wet with coolant, and pressurizing that cylinder caused bubbling in the radiator, looks like the wee monster lost another head gasket. So much for having nothing to do this weekend, but I've had the Del Sol apart more than once, so its "old hat" yanking the head....goody!

Del Sol head gasket again: (bummer) 843, I'm sure you checked the block & head surfaces for being perfectly flat, last time ?

Yeah sure did, had to have the head shaved a few thou but not much. It could be a cracked head this time but I doubt it, Honda heads are fairly stout considering how dinky the engines can be in them.

Decided to go with a Fel Pro gasket this time rather than another OEM Honda part, another new set of head bolts(torque to yield don't ya know), and the other requisite goodies needed to do the job.

I'll get the head yanked tomorrow after I get home from the office, then we shall see what the "breakdown fairy" has left for me this time...woo hoo!

Sometimes dull moments need to be appreciated more. With all the non-fun you've been having since the kidney stone popped onto your radar sleeper, I think you'll enjoy some dull moments.

Yesterday, drove to the grocery store, came out and there was a gorgeous Sandstone HHR parked RIGHT in front of me (I left a note saying "Nice ride. www.chevyhhr.net ... stop by and say hi."). Same thing the other day .... came out of Walgreen's and there was a pretty black one similar to mine parked RIGHT BESIDE me. It's like a magnet! :) Took her over and washed her after the grocery store and now she's back to looking puuuuurrrrtttyyy sans dirt. :)

There are a few of us who have business cards printed up to leave on HHR's we see parked, just to let folks know about the site.
