Like SSFan said, just get them from maggie. LEDs... Looks way better than the tinted job will ever look!

I emailed her but she really couldn't do any better pricing wise than what I can get on Amazon or eBay so I'll do the tint for now until I can save up some money for the LEDs. I'll put it on my to-do list though.

Gotta do what you gotta do man, sometimes duty calls, and sometimes I don't let it dump into voice-mail.

Well, what I did today (actually last week) was to trade in my 2006 HHR. We drove our HHR for slightly over 3 years, and put 66,000 miles on it. My penultimate take on these cars?

It was OK. It averaged about 25 mpg around town, maybe 29mpg on the road at 70mph+. Not a bad highway cruiser. It was pretty reliable and very dependable. It is a useful size, and will haul a surprising amount of stuff. I still think they are good looking. I liked it better than my wife and kids did.

BUT; the interior is cheap compared to the competition, and unless you add a rear sway bar (which I did immediately upon buying it) the understeer is horrendous. The worst feature, by far, is the brakes. The HHR is just enough heavier and higher powered than the original Delta platform cars (the Ion coupe et al) that it's just badly underbraked. I had 2 sets of pads and 3 sets of rotors, and they would all overhead and vibrate quickly in normal use, let alone driving it hard.

The HHR was not a bad car for GM, they sold a bunch of them. Here in Dayton, Ohio, you see them every 3 minutes. But it was typical of GM until recently; a car that was just a little underdeveloped. I always thought that if they had upgraded the interior a little bit, then taken the brakes and suspension of the HHR SS, the 6 speed auto trans of the Malibu and called it the HHR LTZ, they would have had a real winner.

And the replacement? I just bought a new Chevy Equinox. A little bigger than the HHR, with seriously upgraded interior, the same engine (only with direct injection) the aforementioned 6 speed trans, and decent 4 wheel disk brakes. It's positioned upmarket from the HHR, but is a huge step forward for GM, and frankly for me as well.

Cheers, Mike

But does it look like a 49 suburban? Mine has direct injection, and a turbo too. Enjoy the new Knox !!! Cheers

The newer Equinox is much better than the first gen models and look great for a teenage girl, but to me they are just not manly enough. Most entry level SUV's yell "woman" but that's just my opinion. So far I've enjoyed the HHR and the brakes and auto trans seem right on par for an entry level crossover vehicle. I agree about the drum brakes, but thus far this thing has stopped on a dime every time I've needed it to. Enjoy your new ride!
