Hi Black Beauty!

Okay, if there was a latch to pop the trunk, it would not really help most folks. It would help both of us though because believe it or not, both of us have very bad arthritis, and even what might seem like a slight squeeze to most folks to get our trunk open, is a tough one for us. On our Saturn all we had to do was apply a small amount of pressure to pop the latch from the inside or use out remote. Severe arthritis runs in my family, as it does in my husbands, and in his case it didn't help when his hands nearly froze on a cross country Harley trip we took in our young years. We hit some bad weather up in Glacier NP Montana and my husbands hands WERE blue. He's had trouble ever since, so we look at small details like the ease with which we can open things.

I didn`t see any mention of your trying the latch on the lift gate prior to making the decision to purchase, and the salesperson convincing you that it was so easy that a person with your family history of arthritis could open the hatch regardless of weather conditions.
This could be a design flaw. (or just bad training of the sales staff.)

Hey BB, having fun being childish? This is a "dream" thread. And it also gives ideas for mods as well. I believe you posted your "dream" ........

Guess you didn't sit in it before buying, or maybe the salesman got you to believe that the seats and mirrors had memory.

I voted for duel exhaust. Always have liked the look better. Gives more balance.

All the things I mentioned where things that would make the HHR a nicer veh.
All these things would be easy to incorporate with electronics.(besides the rear window opening for vent)
The rear hatch already has a release, incorporated into the locking system that could only be easier if the lift gate actually came up automatically.
It just appears that you guys would rather coddle someone with an unrealistic view, than to actually have a dialog.
In the original statement, the request begged the question "WHY".
It also appears that anytime someone gives an opposing opionion, they`re having a bad day.
That`s why this country`s in the mess it`s in now.
Passivity.

And having a dash release for the rear hatch wouldn't? Wonder why all the upscale vehicles come equipped with it then.

Because they're upscale vehicles and we drive an economy car. I wouldn't mind having a little actuator in the hatch that actually popped the hatch a little in addition to a inside hatch release button. A separate hatch pop button on the key fob would be nice also. I doubt Chevy would ever put any of them on the HHR but they would be nice.

Well, our Saturn wagon is the cheap model, and you can either pop the latch from inside the car, or you can click the button on the key fob, and it's a GM product, so anything's possible.

While I'm here, it would be nice to have a lock on the gas cap or something. At the price of gas today, I bet somebody out there is going to be thinking it might be a good idea to start stealing gas. Not that they couldn't figure out away around it, but it would just make it a little more time consuming if it had a lock.
