Here in AZ we're still getting 100+ temps. The southwest doesn't mess around with this "winter" garbage!

2.4, 5-speed. My mileage is slowly improving as the engine breaks in. I only have 2000 miles on it. Last tank was 24.6 mpg actual, 24.1 mpg on the DIC. I'm at a 1/4 tank now and DIC says 25.3 mpg.

My driving is pretty much all city. 7 miles to work and 14 lights, mostly red. I must say I'm very pleased (and surprised) at the fuel economy of the HHR.

when i picked up my hhr on july 25, the DIC showed only 13.8 mpg.with a 119 miles on it. Reset it and now after 1700 miles it reads 22.5. Mostly hilly urban driving. The low initial reading i think, in my case, is due to the dealer demoing the car and letting it sit while idleing.

We have about 215 miles on the odometer right now and we're averaging about 18.6 mpg so far, per the dash thingy.

I'm a little rough on the gas pedal, so I don't doubt the numbers.

I'm more interested in saving gas than going fast at this point in my life, so this is a pretty good way to get me to think about it more and ease up on the start off the line.

I am really surprised at what low mileage many of you are getting. With a 2.2 and 4-speed automatic, I don't think I've ever gotten less than 21 mpg. Right now it says 21.4 and my average speed is 22 mph. I hit stop signs, not stop lights, which could reduce the amount of time the engine idles and there's seldom a need to brake abruptly. I also seldom use the remote start.

I reset the DIC with every fill-up because highway miles really skew the numbers. I got 29 mpg using the A/C on a long trip and I still haven't reached 3,000 miles on the odometer. Can't wait until it's broken in!

This past August I drove form Nebraska to Penn. trip there the car computer said I got 25.5mpg, doing the figures the old fashion way ( total gas and milage) I came up with 27mpg. On trip back I the car compute said I got 29.4mpg, my figures came out to 32.2mpg. One note: on the trip back to PA I had my son and his luggage, on the way home I had only me. son is about 210 in wght, plus about 100lbs of luggage, and I am 190lbs. NOT BAD GAS MILAGE!!
