wheres the fog light wires?

So i took my exrental to dealer to ask for fog lights. They told me it was going to be upwards of 500 bc its not pre wired for them and they have to run wires add relays instal switches blahblahblah.. so i pulled my radio surround off today, and guess what i found?! wiring for the fog lights of course. Now my question is does anyone know if a 2006 with that harness has the harness in the head light area as well? and is there an easy way i can find out without popping all those dern plugs off and prying back the plastic to look underneath there? and where would it be under there

The harness from the BCM to the switch is the only wires you will find. You need a harness from the BCM to the fogs, then you will need to have the BCM reflashed to know it has foglights. All of this info is here if you do a search.

TkHHR, while I completely agree with your sentiment about searching the site in all fairness to the newbie, this site is one of the more difficult sites to search effectively.

Maybe a better response would be to point someone to a specific post (which I doubt exists) that has some "tricks" to searching the site and maybe make him feel a bit more welcome.

Your LS BCM cannot be reflashed to include fogs. The 1LT BCM can if you add fogs, and the 2LT included fogs from the factory.

I installed fogs on my 1LT. Wiring harness for switch is in place. You will have to wire the fogs to the fuse box under the hood. Fogs will still work, but BCM will not control them. Most people in this circumstance wire in a new switch and bypass the wiring to the fuse box and relays. Generally easier this way since the BCM and relays will have nothing to do with the fogs.

You can buy the OEM fogs on ebay for $65-$75 each. A bit of wire and a switch, and you're in business for less than $200.

To combat all of this reflashing stuff...how's about this:

Could one possibly find a set of stock fogs, buy a generic wiring harness for aftermarket lights (seen them at AutoZone for $20 methinks) and splice/wire them in that way? Have you considered aftermarket fogs? That'd save a lot of money and since you are apparently having to wire it anywho, might be a viable option. Just tossing some ideas out there...I've spliced, diced and wired more sets of aftermarket fogs than I care to admit.

Another thought...why on earth would one need to reflash said BCM? If you are mearly completing a circuit that is apparently wired up most of the way (according to OP's findings) by adding power and ground, what would the BCM be doing?

Day time running lights shut off headlights when fog lights are turned on in my '07 2LT..... That would be one thing that I would think the BCM is doing. Whether that's a desirable thing or not is another matter......
