Any body mod can be done if you have the money. Somehow I think that the HHR convertible concept would not go over very big except as a curiosity. It's a station wagon to begin with.....

It would be cheaper to simply buy a convertible if that's what you want.

Can it be done? Of course. Will you see it? NOt from GM IMO. Not worth the time and effort. I hear Chrsler is dropping the PT vert soon. Good thing, that thing is ugly with the top up and looks totally off with the top down.

Some things need to keep their top on.

I see a convertible PT at work quite often, and it is indeed very awkward looking. Hard top PTs aren't bad looking (even if they're as common as roaches), but that shape doesn't lend itself to being a convertible at all. They're semi-ok with the top down, but not that great, and with it up they just are ungainly and disproportionate. An HHR as a convertible would be a freakshow.

Just take a look back at the VW Thing! Can be done, should it be done? That's a lot of money for something that cost more to upkeep, never will seal well, causes an excessive amount of noise, and invite A-holes to cut their way into your car. But you could always Donk it and make it a removeable hard top, no really just kidding.

I like the look of the PT convertible better than the originals, both with the top up and down. I would never get one but it's a nice idea and I kinda like it.

I don't think the HHR could become at convertible model but that's okay.

If you wanted to chop off the roof I'm sure it could be done. If you wanted to swing up to my hood I'd be more than will to do some cutting. I think it would be fun. I won't guarantee that it will look good, or be done right but I'll hack away with you!

This was an old thread that went nowhere, but here is the pic.

It's like a bathtub on wheels.
