Yellow painted brakes?

I thought at one time I saw someone on here with a pic of their hhr and they had painted their brakes yellow.

I know a lot of people do red, and i think it's a bit overdone and thought the yellow might look good as an accent color on my black 2lt. I'm trying to think about it now, since i'm going to order a sway bar soon and yellow is an option, so i thought i might start out with that.

Anyone know where to find that picture, or if it's you, have one?

oh sorry, and also tips on how you paint those parts for the front and back brakes would be appreciated. Specific paints. Do it yourself or have a shop do it? Anything would be helpful.

Just go to any auto parts store and ask them for the Dupli-Color Brake Caliper paint kit. It has everything you need, although I would stop at Walmart of HomeDepot and get a 1" throw-away sponge paint brush to use instead of the one Dupli-Color supplies.

PS
Yellow and Red are hard to find.

Yellow isn't real popular and red is too popular so it's always out of stock.

thanks for the suggestion, looked it up online, and if i go with yellow and can't find it around here. i'll order and have it shipped. $17 for the kit, not too bad.

Anyone have picks up a black hhr that they have done the red with? That way i can isolate the color and change it up to yellow to see if i'd like it. Preferably a black hhr with the 17" high polish wheels would be great to see. Or anyone who has done the calipers a color with the 17" high polish, and i'll just photoshop them on to mine.

Any other comments, think they yellow will look bad, look good?

Haven't seen them in yellow, but think it would be stricking on a black HHR.

went to the local pep boys. they have the dupli color kit for red and black in stock, and they sell just the caliper paint in red, black and silver.

Talked to them and said they could get me yellow, or 1 of 10 different colors if i wanted. Different brand though, and just the paint, no kit. I did noticed that in the heat rating on dupli color is 500 degrees, and the other brand was 900 degrees.

So i'm going to look around online a bit. I kind of wanted to have it by next weekend, because i'll see my dad, who is a car guy and can help me take it all apart. I wouldn't do it myself, and i want to take them off to paint instead of doing it while on the car.

I think i'll just do the front calipers and leave the drums alone at first. I think the drums is often a little too much color, and i can always do it later. Plus, if i hate the yellow i can just paint them black or another color later.

Now to find an image of one with them painted, so i can mock mine up.

Talking Did mine in yellow

I read your post, i've had my black ss for about 6 weeks after about a week i painted them yellow. 500 Degree paint . i drive the shi_ out of it, and the paint is fine , makes cleaning easy. and i think looks pretty tricked out. i've had nothing but compliments on the addition of the yellow to the ride. i might do the overlays in yellow ? i saw a bunch of red on the black, so i went with yellow !! check my pics, there not the best pics , but you'll get an idea of the final look.

good luck

chris

replied to you PM on it, thanks for the info and doing it first!

the black and yellow looks so good together, convinces me to do it soon. I could do it a week from now, or then i don't know when i could do it again. going to see my parents and all the jacks and everything is up there.

Also convinces me to go with a yellow sway bar when i order it. A few bright yellow accents should look good.
