2.1 LEF built motor build

Hello all! I have been in and out of this forum for some time now just browsing. I purchased a 09 silver hhr ss, back in 2012, that had full bolt ons, e85 safe seal injectors and was tuned on e47 by James Rakes. Ran great for 2 years until the head gasket shredded and the block mixed oil and coolant. After that I had my first go around with a fully built LDK along with a PTE 5858 turbo setup. Unfortunately I didn't follow the proper procedure to break in a motor, and kept the revs low for 1500 miles, when it began seeing serious tuning, the rings never seated properly and nothing but crankcase pressure after that. During that time, i had wrecked my silver HHR SS, and purchased another 09 HHR SS in Dec 2016 and moved the built motor on to that. Once we figured out it was a Ring land issue, I had the motor removed and began purchasing parts for current 2.1 LEF build. Fast forward to now (almost 4 years now that the black SS has been down) and I have collected a plethora of parts and have move my HHR SS to Dave at Performance Autowerks to install everything and also perform Fabrication work.

The purpose of this build is for 1/2mi racing events and highway fun. My goal is 160mph at standing 1/2mi.

without further adieu, here is my list of everything i have so far, and i will continue to update this thread as the build progresses.

Sounds like a fun ride! Hopefully it’ll be ready for next summer’s racing season.

Interesting. Google doesn't seem to have any info on an LEF engine. Do you have any links?

Actually it's not a real engine code. I made up the code myself because of the fact that it isn't a true LNF. So I meshed together the LEA code along with the LNF code. It's not the first, as there are a few LNF owners(cobalt and HHR alike) that have this same long block setup.

So it’s an LNF crank in an LEA block , hence LEF .

Yes sir! Right now I'm waiting on the diamond pistons from Ottp. Once they reach Dave, he'll send the short block out for balancing 👍
