2010's with the 2.1 LNY?? (300hp, 275tq SAE)??
I expect the odds are good since Holden is already working on the Tubo for their car. That would make it a near bolt in for the Camaro.
The only question is pulblic acceptance of a 4 cylinder Camaro.

Even though prices are down and just shy of $4/gal, they will sell like hot cakes. The older generation who recalls the muscle car era and the V8s have an issue. THat is my observation from this and other forums since it was first hinted at having a 4cyl powered Camaro. THe younger generation knows Lancers, WRX Subies, and other turbo cars as being fast and easy to tune. They will eat these things up. I only hope the 'base' model can be ordered with a suspension upgrade ala ZL-1, etc.
Funny to think that a 'base' model engine can put out 300 hp, when a decade ago 300 hp from a Camaro or Mustang meant bragging rights.

GM is in a catch 22 on this car. they would like to get the older crowd to accept the smaller engines but they want to also get the younger gen to accept a great car that weight is higher than what they are used to.
This may be a struggle till a 6th gen happens if it does happen. Any new cars from here on out will be losing weight in any way they can. That is the only way they will meet future CAFE regs. DI and 4 cylinders will not do it alone.
We will see more light weight materials like carbon fiber but we also will see the exotic materials add to the price.
Either way Tubo's will be dominate. I saw that word is leaking a V6 C7 twin turbo 3.6 may be under consideration. Talk about a struggle. No matter how good the engine is the Vette people are the most die hard V8 crowd. I see a Tubo as possible but I see it offered along with the V8.
Untill there is an updated platform I don't see it going up much if any. They have to find a way for a stronger tranny and they will be six speeds.
The Cobalt also is near the end in 2010. The new car is coming in 2011 and the base will have a 1.4 turbo but I expct the 2.1 turbo will find a way in with a 6 speed on the Delta II.
