My 09 has left a black mark on my painted garage floor, like it spit up, and I have to constantly clean the chrome tips.

Hop out the back hatch next time you floor it; you prob. would be very surprised to notice a large 'puff' of black smoke come out the exhaust. Oh yeah --- "Don't try that at home." LOL

Any fuel injected engine will get carbon buildup that will show some black smoke when you floor it. If you floor it more often it does help to have less buildup...

Combination of DI and VVT. The ECM sets up a very weird cam phasing for startup, but quickly pulls it back for something more "normal." Blue smoke on startup, on the other hand bears watching.

When I no-lift-shift and look in the mirrors, I can see a small puff of black smoke hanging in the air. It surprised me at first, but it seems normal now.
