TBSS, 0-60 5.4 sec, 1/4 13.9 sec, (RWD model, AWD is about a tenth slower)
HHRSS, 0-60 6.21 sec, 1/4 14.8 sec (5 speed model)

From a roll, a RWD or a AWD will hook much better than a FWD.

I had a friend that dumped their regular TB because the mileage was only 16-17 MPG in everyday driving. They went with a minivan.

TB SS, jeep SRT8

I test drove both the TBSS and the jeep SRT8, I bought the SRT8 2 1/2 years ago. I really wanted a HHR SS but they wern't in production yet. hated the mazdaspeed 3, not impressed with the wrx....so the SRT8 is similar to the TBSS, big, heavy, huge engines, huge tires, bad mpg but tons of torque. The SRT8 has a 5-speed auto and short gears, almost nothing can touch it 0-60..in stock trim..I easily get around 5 seconds 0 to 60 on wet roads! but, I average 14 mpg, a little less in the winter and 16-17 highway..its a monster but everything about it is expensive...each runflat tire is $430 EACH...so don't complain about you HHR SS tires costing a lot....the TBSS has way more room inside and can tow, so it depends on what you want but be prepard 'cause it will cost you...Just my too cents... I plan on buying a HHR SS soon too, I love turbos and being the fact its an american car!...

LOL, you ever raced from a roll? Look at the trap speeds man. My buddys 08 civic si 4dr beats TBSS from rolls. Just because the HHR is slower in the 1/4 doesnt mean they would lose from a roll. I know I straight rape on them from a roll in my tuned SS. You need to get a SS before you THINK you know how it performs.

My HHR SS the way it sits (tune, catless DP, Exh, intake, and I/C piping) is much faster than my TBSS (granted the TBSS only has catback on it). I'm sure the TBSS has the potential to be faster for cheaper but I think my wife is fine with the way it is...

I test drove a SS 5 speed. I passed. Sorry but FWD performance cars don't do it for me. I did that about 14 years ago with a 16B DOHC delSol that was indeed modified. Fun car, but happy to sell it. Traction issues are a big problem with FWD, period. Racing from a roll is lame for the most part anyway as that usually indicates street racing, which everyone knows I think is stupid and the drivers that do it, worse (go ahead, insult me if it makes you happy, usually just proves my point anyway). Mod for mod, a TBSS will easily take a HHRSS, even from a roll. Unless the dirver is a, lets me nice, a less that capable driver.

I ran a 13.6@105 in my stock with tune hhr on pump gas full weight with a bad 60'. I know the tbss is great and can easily be made to be faster, no doubt. I love digs even with my hhr. rolls are indeed gay.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that roll racing is for ricers. Back in the day, I would've gotten my butt kicked for merely suggesting such a thing.

I love the SS for what it is. It's fast, nimble, holds a ton, and more fun than a barrel of monkeys, but owning a dramatically faster car allows me to keep my feet on the ground regarding its limitations.
