Beefing up the rear suspension

Ok people, I'm hoping to sturdy up the already stout rear suspension for load and towing reasons(i don't want to start another tow thread). Does any one know where I might find air shocks, cargo coils, or air bags that fit in the coils for the SS ???

JCW 1983 Cavalier Air Ride 1000 air bags PN AIRA138427.. or..Coil Rite Air spring Kit 1JA 860959 ( though twice as much) I have the Air Rides on mine and with 10 psi I haul my 800 lb bike on trailer with no problem...Loaded a large roll around tool box loaded and everything else needed for contract work...hardly know its back there....doesnt need a lot of pressure to work and smooths out the rear under load...fits inside coil springs no modifcations required though I ran my air lines to the gas filler compartment for easy access..

I am thinking of revisiting this idea myself. When you did it what did you do with the bump stop (I know you said no modifications but)? Does it stay in? And of course-----is there any way you could take a picture?

I just took off my snows and I saw that the shock had a light film of oil around it-so after 35,000 I guess its time. I would like it a little stiffer myself when I tow with the weight in the rear. What shocks did you use?

Any info and pictures are greatly appreciated!
Mike

I got "progressive" coil springs from, I think from RockAuto.com. They were about $35 for the pair. To install, just unbolt the shocks and pull an push etc. The rear now sits noticeably higher, tho I don't know by how much, they are supposed to be for loads.

No...didnt trim anything..the air bag is essentially a inflatable ball or cylinder...it conforms to any surface..you drag guys might want to consider these for tuning your launches..as each side is set seperatly...
Stock shocks..though these are now shot at 51k...still smooth but I feel the bounce and will probably go with stock replaements as no one makes a decent affordable aftermarket unit....though I may play with the rear and cross referance another shock type.

um no...the pic at JCW is pretty much it...bag sets inside coil sideways...just a cylinder shape..at first youll think its way too small but it fits and works great...a low press setup..Ive never had more then 15psi in them and I was loaded.. I ran my airlines to the fuel filler cup behind the door...easy access and keeps the weather off the valves..
