Thanks, but dumb luck really. I never had the flicker until one morning after the wife and kids had the car. They were fooling with all the knobs (like I did to my dad) and had that all the way up, along with the wipers etc. I saw it flicker and said @#$%!!! now I have it. For some reason I thought it was too bright anyway and cut it down and it stopped. Oh well, cheap fix.

but just turning it down really aint a fix its a bandade......Come on GM get with the program. I got GM to re-imburse me for my issuses with it. I bought the Aeroforce gauge they gave me free oil changes program and i think the maintenance program etc for 2 years.

Is my link to the bulletin in the "Official Recall and TSB Number Post" not working? There is a fix there by GM. See post #2. Or click below.

My policy is to explore all potential fixes I can make to the car, before I get the dealer involved....

Isn't that how the "post it" note was invented?

Can I patent my fix?

Actually I played with it a little more. What the kids did was turn it fully so the map lights and dome light were on. I played with the thing and between the potentiometer full setting and the light swtch/detente there is a little dead spot. This is fairly common with "on/off/volume" controls. So when you have it set to FFB (full blast) bumps in the road bounce it into the dead spot. Interesting how this got past quality validation. It's not a biggie for me and this work-around is OK since I usually set the brightness down anyway.
