Brake pad recomendations needed

47k miles and the wear sensor is making noise. I have heard EBC brakes are good, but wanted opinions from here first.

Which brake pads do you use?

EBC or HAWK are both good brands. Make sure you get a set of rotors also, as you should never put new pads on used rotors.

I used to autocross and daily-drive on both EBC Reds and Hawk HPS. I'd probably give a slight edge to the Reds, because they dusted a bit less. Their downside was they were like wood blocks at around 0*F in the winter until they got warm. Since you're in SoCal, that won't be an issue. Both are good, though. Neither one squeaked, which you get from higher-temp, track pads either.

If you got brembos stay with stock pads you cant get better ones and if youre not then EBC is good

Stock brembo pads are good except for the dust cloud problem. I would opt for something that doesn't "dust" as bad as the stock ones.

Out of HAWK and EBC, HAWK is the only choice for Brembo's as EBC does not make pads yet for the Brembos.

Agreed, the stock pads have a very high dust level.

At 5000 miles I just put on a set of duralast (autozone) ceramic pads that they listed for a cobalt ss w/brembo. No more noise, No more black dust after 100 miles , stops the same. Best 70 bucks I ever spent.

definitely go Hawk pads if you have stock Brembo, improved pad, and much less dust!

if dont have brembo
id still go Hawk with new rotors, focus on front set

Im on a stockish pad right now which suck but i have had ebd greens on my old mini cooper and they were phenomenal.....which says a lot cause minis stop on a dime on stock brakes.

im going to ebc yellows here shortly....was gonna do a brembo swap but i'd rather use those funds for something else
