Cancelling extended service contract

Cancelling extended service contract
So when I bought my car in August, I purchased and extended service contract as well. 3yr/36k.
Saturday, I'm going to cancel it and get a refund.
Then, well... We'll see about some mods.

From what I recall reading the verbiage in the only extended warranty I ever had, August to now would be too long to get a refund. They only allowed cancellation within the first 60 days. I didn't buy that warranty; it came with the car (2005 GTO purchased in 2009) and was transferred to me. It was a GM extended warranty; not a third party one. Yours may be different. Mine expired on the time portion in 2011.

The service contract I have is through a third party, and able to be cancelled at any time. I figure the refund I get from that, a portion of it can be put up as an emergency fund for the vehicle. Another portion of it can be used as I see fit.
On the mods side, as far as mechanical goes I'll probably just do a tune (leaning towards trifecta) and an engine mount (isn't it TTR with the upper engine mount for autos?). Maybe a catless down pipe (no sniffers in NC), but that's really just for a little extra growl.
Everything else I want to do is either cosmetic or not performance related (window tint, headlights, paint, replacing the factory sub).
I just have to make sure I keep it reliable enough to be my DD. I do have a backup vehicle, but with no AC, PS, or PB it's a pain to drive and more than a week would annoy me (interesting to drive though).
