I guess you missed the first couple of pages. P0496 means there is purge flow when not commanded; the purge valve is stuck open (under the hood).

oh. first i got check gas cap message with a CEL PO445. Replaced gas cap reset computer and now I get a CEL with po496.

Check engine light came on while driving. Stays lit continually. Car's performance is good. No problems starting, running, or any other time. 1/2 tank reg gas.

You have a HHR SS ? If so, you need to pull the codes and post them here. Not descriptions- code #’s only if you want us to help.

If this is not a SS, you should post in another forum section.
