Angry Codes P0455, P0457, P0011, P0451 and rough start

Ok I know I got a lot of codes here and I don't expect clear all of them up with right quick. But I'd like to address the ones that coincide with these additional symptoms. Once in a while I will get a Gas Cap message and I typically only get it while highway driving. The other symptom is a tough long cranking start ONLY after filling the tank up with gas. All other starts after that are fine until the next fill up.

I have a 2010 HHR SS with 96,000 miles with no modes.

Get a new gas cap and EVAP vent valve and both VVT valves.
Always turn the gas cap 2 clicks after you think it is tight.

I replaced all these same parts about 2 years ago when I had the same codes. Is it possible all these are bad again or is something else causing them to fail? Bought all of them through Autozone as Duralast parts. I believe they have lifetime warranties so the cost may be $0. But time is not free. Thanks for your reply.

You should check fuse #64 under hood, make sure all of the fuses are seated well. Check the wires and connector to the EVAP vent valve.
Replace the EVAP purge valve. You might have a hole in the EVAP or fuel line (look just in front of the driver side rear wheel).
In NY there is a good chance that road salt has been working on things under the car.

The evap is tested by the PCM during cruise conditions which it turns on the light because it failed. Also you have a problem with it when refueling. Do you smell gas after while starting?
You likely need a purge valve to fix your evap problem.

Actually, it is the vent valve/canister that would make for hard to fill, could also be a kinked vent from the tank or to the top of the filler tube.. Purge valve would make for hard to start. Fumes would be leaking fuel or purge lines.
The gas cap EVAP test is done at cruise. Some others are done after a drive cycle while parked. P0455 runs after a cold start, I think the P0457 runs after a fill event. For some reason, my book does not list the P0457.

You might check the seal of the vent to canister. Avoid "topping off" the gas. 2 clicks of the cap to seal it, check the sealing surfaces.

P0455 and P0457 both mean Large leak, the P0457 is really huge leak (usually gas cap). P0451 means the tank pressure sensor is sending odd values, that could be the culprit.

I can't see a connection to the P0011, except maybe a low idle/low oil pressure. Usually a clogged screen on the valve.

Yeah but now they’ll believe you.

I have a P0442 (small evap leak) that has so far eluded me for over a year. Wife want it fixed so the remote start will work and Winter’s coming. It usually takes over a week to come back after I clear it. If I can’t find the leak I may just need to clear the pending code once/week all Winter long.

His problem is not filling but hard start after.
