Check Engine Light & OnStar
On Friday evening wife got home and said check engine light was on. Our SS is an 08/5sp purchased in July w/6900 miles and OLM at 19%.
After dinner I checked oil and looked it over under the hood. Remembered that OnStar could run a diagnostic so hit the button. The advisor said it was showing something perhaps with the transmission and transferred me to another level advisor with advanced expertise. Long story short, and if I understood him correctly, it sounded as if a "clutch sensor was trying to tell the engine that the clutch pedal wasn't all the way in so the engine might want to think about not starting" (my words not the advisors) but the car still starts and runs fine.
I backed it out of the garage Saturday and washed it and put it back with the engine light still on. This morning, my wife had a 6 mile round trip errand to run and I told her to drive it and she said light was still on. Later today I ran a 6 mile round trip errand also and NO LIGHT. I called OnStar again just now and asked them to run another diagnostic and they reported no problem.
Anyone else have anything like this happen? If so, what was the outcome? I know the standard reponse will be to take it to the dealer but frankly spending time at any car dealer waiting for service is not my most favorite thing to do - no offense Chevy Mgr

My Saab did similar things only the dash would show a pic of the transmission and the error was "no transmission detected" (or something close) yet is was still driveable
.
I'd keep driving but thats me.

Had the exact same problem the first month I had my 08 5spd. Engine light came on and it lasted a day or so. No problems with driving, but the code read clutch sensor (don't recall code # off hand). A day or so after that my car died as I was driving it. No power at all and it would not restart. Had to have it towed (flatbed of course) to the dealer (45min away). They replaced the clutch sensor that was bad. This seems to be a problem only with the 5spd versions, contrary to the brake issue with the autos.
Get er to the dealer and have it replaced. Otherwise it may die in traffic. Lucky for me I was on a university campus.

No prob.....I actually had to take it in a second time, because they forgot to flash the ECU and the code kept popping up and the check engine light kept coming on.......hopefully they do it right on the first go around for you.
