Hey, guys, I did buy the 2008 SS!! Obviously it's too new for me to evaluate yet, but so far, so good.... I took it on a 200 mile trip this past weekend and I was very pleased with the way it performed - plus, 29.7 mpg!!

I do have another question that I was unable to find in the Owner's Manual. There is a very small light located between the sun visors, and directly above the rear view mirror - what is it, and do I have any control over it? Thanks!

 

I think you're referring to the microphone for phone calls and onstar.

 

No, I saw the microphone - this is a very small light....

 

Here is a discussion about it. Apparently it lights up the window switches on the center console, and signals you that your headlights are on. But SS doesn't have window switches in the center.

 

Search "mood light". I hope you didn't get a fake SS, did you look for the turbo?

My 2008 SS has that light as well. May have been a carry over that was removed at some point.

I know that my 2010 SS doesn't have that light.

 

I believe the 08 SS had the mood light, I don't know if it disappeared during the model year or into 09.

 

I actually don't like the light. At some point I need to pull down the headliner to fix the cold weather rattling up there and I'll remove it.
