Dashcontrol obdii display in dic

Hello,
I ran across this OBD display for our HHR in the DIC.
I know you can get a bunch of free OBD software for your laptop or smart phone. I think its neat just to tap a few buttons and see what you want in the DIC. Its a little pricey. I only have the pillar boost gauge.
So what is your thoughts?

Here is the info pasted from the web site.

AutoMeter’s remarkable DashControl™ utilizes your vehicle’s factory display(s) to provide performance information without modification. Available for certain vehicles with a Driver Information Center (DIC), DashControl™ plugs into the OBDII port and “hijacks” these displays, allowing you to monitor parameters from the vehicle’s data bus. Customize the display pages to display what you want, where you want it. Because there is no modification to any of the vehicle’s computer systems, it’s 100% warranty friendly and reversible simply by unplugging the device. It’s the easiest, most integrated solution for gauges yet, and takes only seconds to install.

DashControl™ offers customizable alerts as well. Water temp getting too hot or oil pressure dropping? DashControl™ can activate your factory warning chime and display an alert in the DIC at any value you set. Customization is incredibly easy using our intuitive configuration software. Better still, the system is expandable to add up to two additional analog inputs for parameters not monitored by your vehicle’s computer systems.

Applications:
’05-'10 Chevy Cobalt
‘06-'10 Pontiac Solstice
'07-'10 Saturn Sky
'06-'11 Chevy HHR

Don't be surprised if the HHR does not provided all of those PIDs.

Hello,
I wanted to warn anyone that was thinking about buying one of these to wait.

Mine arrived today and it will not communicate with my 08 SS. It does however work fine with my 07 HHR LT.

Im getting a flashing red light from what Ive been able to find its a VIN reading problem. Hopefully they can make me a new firmware.

Boost!

Does that mean the SS has a tune?

Is the aux power outlet working? They are on the same fuse #29 under hood.

Here is the crazy thing.....It will work if I keep unplugging it and plugging it back in....It takes about 90 time tho...If I turn off the car Im screwed...gotta do it again.
It has no problem on my 07 LT and 08 Panel. I emailed the tech line. I do have a GMTU tune.

The #29 fuse is good...thanks.

Sounds like the OBD port is overused. Maybe just the pins getting pushed out the back.
