Chevy rounded mine up to 2000 but it won't help since the HHR has a 1000 redemption allowance (at least on my card). Last yr around Jan 24 they upped the rebate on the LT from 1500 to 2250 for one month before dropping back. Then on March 1st they tack on a 500 auto show bonus (Cleveland area anyways). The second I see at least 2000 on their web site, I'm calling the dealer for an 08. No rebates listed for the SS.

That probably was a bad idea. They wanted to do the same for me, even offered a lower rate than my CU. But it had higher payments....

I just handed them my check.

Wish they would give us old vets a discount too. Better hope that train didn't head for South America

Full Story:
Since the guy at the dealership a) knows me through a mutual friend, and b) didnt call me back like 8 times about financing, I convinced him to let me test drive it all weekend. I wont sign the papers until monday evening when I get off work.... now about the car.

It has a wierd exhaust note. It sounds kinda put put put.. I dont know how to describe it. Different is all I know. The ride noise is higher than I expected. In fact, it can be downright loud at times. The biggest problem I have with the car right now is driving it like I _didn't_ just steal it. I cant seem to keep my foot out of it. I was very concerned about how close the 80mph spot on the speedometer was from the 100mph marker, because it will close the gap unbelievably quick without you even knowing whats going on. This car is fast. It is fun, and I cant quit smiling when I drive it. I keep refering to it as my toy. Something else is the 1st gear. It seems like I dont even get the clutch out all the way before I have to change gears. Im not complaining, its just not something I am accustomed to. It looks awesome. Everybody who thought I was buying a PT Cruiser and was picking on me quickly recanted and told me it was a nice looking ride. The interior finish is great to me. Maybe I dont know what a "nice" car has interior wise, but its great for me. Very comfortable seat and ride. The only thing is the door handle feels like cheap plastic. I dont know if its metal or what, but it feels very light. My head comes nowhere near the sunroof and I am 6'2. The only thing I can think is if thats a problem for the other people, is that they sit straight up in the seat. The seat will go back a long long ways. Even too far back for me to press the clutch in comfortably. I was very concerned about my knee rubbing the console. It does rub, and it did bother the crap out of me at first. I got over it after about 50 miles. All in all, I think this car rocks. I love to drive it and I love the fact it doesnt look like every other car on the road. For those people who think the hhr is ugly and the cobalt ss is going to be the hottest thing on the road. .. well, i think these are probably the same people who like to put 8ft wings on their 93 cavalier.

have you tried the "no lift shift" yet?
Even Bob Lutz can't bring himself to try it.

I did. It wierded me out so bad, I wont be trying it again. It just seems so unnatural. I also put the car in competition mode and forgot and barked the tires going into second (without trying to). One thing that I am absolutely afraid to do though is try the launch control. Maybe I can go test drive another one and dump the clutch at the 4k rev limit.

I had the same thing in my Solstice GXP when I first got it. I hit rev limiter
time after time till I finially got the shifting correct.
How does the shifter work. The Asian 5 speed in the GXP is uneven. Sometimes it shifts smootly, sometimes not. I am hoping the Getrag in my
new HHR SS will be better.
