How can you order a car and not know what motor it has in it? Especially a performance car.

I assumed that it was the 2.4L. However, it has plenty o power. I havent opened it up until it get broken in, but I did have to speed up to change lanes today and I was amazed on how fast it went from 50 to 80. My wife has a G35 coupe v6 and it has similar performance once you are moving but not off the line.

Out of curiosity, I actually really really like the G35. Knowing what you know now, and you could have a new HHR SS or a few year old G35 for the same price, which would you buy, and why.

Well a couple of pre requsites. I am 50, I have a very nice Chevy Avalanche and my wifes G35. If I wanted to drive a car that gets and and goes, no doubt the G35 is very cool. It is like driving a gocart. However, I needed a car to drive to our home in Mexico on the sea of cortez 6 hours away. I am tired of paying big bucks for gas in the Avalanche. I can do a round trip to and from Mexico for about the same cost as the Avalanche. Also there is no way to drive 6 hours in the G35. My back hurts like hell after about an hour.

So the HHR is a great intermediate driver.

That is actually perfect information for me. I have a bad back and that is part of the reason im getting rid of my current ride (Volvo 240 stationwagon -- old old old). Thanks. My wife has a Honda Odyssey that gets crappy mileage and I can let her drive the HHR to work on the weekends. This will help us save mileage on the family mobile which must survive forever.
