As soon as the electic one is out I will up grade. For now this will buy me time in the little towns that have nothing else to do but look for missing plates.

It hangs down about an inch.

I would say you could fab one up but it is much easier to buy it all sorted out. Also it is all plastic and stainless so it is very weather proof.

I made a hide away for my Fiero and it works well but it too some time and it is still not as good as what this is. I had to go vertical with it and drop it down from behind the bumper. Getting the limits on it took some time as I did not want to hit the aftermarket airdam I have.
