Frt splash shield plastic rivets
Frt splash shield plastic rivets
I'm having a hard time removing the frt. splash shield plastic rivets. I know there was a special tool, on here awhile back, that you could order, but can't seem to find the thread now.
Anyone care to enlighten me on best way to remove these darn things. "Moon"

In Russia it is done with scissors.
Scissors have are flat, but the blunt blades. They are easy to creep under the head of clip. At the same time, the long blades and scissors can be used as a lever.
The main danger - accidentally bite clip.
Office scissors do not work - is shaky. Use the tailoring scissors (bring your grandmother
).

To reiterate what 843de said, also look at post #10 as that's what I've done for years and it's worked with every car I've owned.

just cut them off with side cutters, scissors, or a knife. replace with new ones. i found it wasn't worth the risk of breaking off the tangs of the plastic bumper cover so i just cut them off and got some new ones. beats fighting with them.
If you are talking about the ones with the pin in the center, that operates like a "Molly" just pry the center pin out, then pop the rest out from under the sheathing. The other kind you can use a nail puller, or go to the local auto parts outlet and get the "body panel tool" kit, or a package of new rivets. Both kinds of rivets should be available at the "Zone,Boys,Advance" etc. try in the "stuff you never thought you would need" section.
