Is there a part # for the upgrade
One part# for the crimped style and one part# for the Plug in style?

a/t or m/t does not make a difference in the part # i assume?
also if I have this right the auto is 235hp in first and second stock and then 260 hp in third?
this kit will make it capable of 290hp in all gears and still not hurt the warranty?
what kind of questions would one need to ask at the dealer?
Probably how many have they installed?
The dealer I am currrently dealing with has about 6 plus service writers waiting as you drive in so I would guess whenever I can save up to have it done I may have to talk to the service manager?
Op Great post and it seems much more positive responses on the upgrade than I expected.

If you buy the plug in connectors any dealer can handle that. The blug in wires are only available throug the Create engine depot if I understand correctly. It is something they did not GM.

The Auto is 235 in 1st and 2nd but only 250 in third. Yes the warranty 5 year 100,000 warranty will remain if installed by GM.

If I were doing the crimp connectors I would aske them what tool do they use. If they just say a crimp tool I would ask what kind. Look for a Kent Moore tool as supplied by GM for these connectors. It is the same tool they are to use for the air bags when changed out.

Same part number for the kits but different down loads for different years and trannys.

thanks Hyper
so If I buy from crate engine depot in the future My dealer should install with out complaining I bought it somewhere else?
also you mentioned that the 5 year power train warranty would stay in effect so I assume that means that the 3 year 36000 mile extended warranty I bought from Gm would stay in effect also?
what would be the proper part# for the auto non crimp plug an play setup?

Just contact Crate Engine Depot(CED). They will get the correct parts for you. If you have any questions, just ask Tom at CED. He is the resident guru.

Fwiw. You do know, CED is a department at a GM dealership.
My dealer ask where I got my parts. Told them they came from another GM dealer, they said OK, no warranty problems then.

No dealer should have an issue where you got the parts. They are GM parts and they are getting paid to install them. If they want they can match the price.

I got my kit at work at cost [it is not a dealer but I can order GM parts at cost] I then took them to the dealer and they did the install for me and the down load for a very good price. I may have less in my system than anyone.

From what I read even GM has no issue with you installing the parts and then just taking it to the dealer for the down load. GM did recomend to drive it carefully as the car will run but it is not in proper tune. For what it is worth the dealer will charge in most cased as much for the down load no matter if they install the hard parts or not.

My 2008 5-spd manual has ~ 27,000km with the Turbo Upgrade Kit and I've never had an issue.

Thanks!

I'm really happy with the positive responses too. Thanks again to everyone that has contributed so far. It's been really helpful in making me want to spend money that I don't have! I guess it'll be peanutbutter and Jelly sandwiches and top ramen for a while so I can save to pay for it!

That's not a problem, getting you out of the car long enough to eat the peanut butter and jelly will be the problem. Oh and by the way don't forget the 1000 dollars you will need for some tires and a TTR upper mount, That being said, you wont believe the difference on the auto.

Beating a dead horse here, debated on the forum pretty hard when it fist came out in late '08. $ for $ single biggest HP improvement, especially for the autos. it brought us up almost 55HP. Buying a bigger turbo, is #2 $ for $.

My cost through CED and Dealer instal put it at around $120 per 10HP..... Thats cheap! A bigger turbo will run about $150 per 10HP, if you do the work yourself. but you will need a few other toys to go with it and the price goes up again.
